51 Days Alcohol Free: Back to School!

I’ve got 51 days of sobriety today! Over halfway to triple digits, baby 😉

I didn’t write yesterday because I was busy diving into reading for this semester’s classes. For the next 4 months, I’ll be taking the following courses:

  • Fundamentals of Therapeutic Interaction
  • Crisis & Trauma-Informed Interventions
  • Family Counseling Approaches to Addictions

How fitting, that I’m taking an addiction counseling course at this specific time in my life. While I don’t think I’m going to build a practice that is focused on addiction counseling, this type of material is going to prove itself to be invaluable – to me, and to my future clients.

As such, I’m about to be a very busy girl. Full-time work, full-time school and a full-time boyfriend (haha) are probably going to keep me fairly occupied through December. I don’t think that’s a good enough reason to stop participating in this wonderful sober community, though, and it’s definitely not a good enough reason to keep me from writing. I think having this space as a place to connect, express, and vent has been one of the most important things I’ve done so far in my journey.

So, while I probably won’t be posting every day or every-other-day like I have been, I’ll be around – reading, commenting, liking, and posting as I can. And even though I can’t provide counseling services or give professional advice on here, I am excited to apply what I learn in my addiction counseling course to understanding my own sobriety, and to share some of this newfound knowledge on here.
